Basic Science & Engineering MCQ is a simple Book for Exams of
1.     Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) The most prominent exam featuring this subject is for technical roles within the Indian Railways.

·        RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot): Engineering Drawing is a significant part of CBT Stage 2 (Part A) under the "Basic Science and Engineering" section.

·        RRB Technician: Similar to ALP, technical candidates are tested on drawing fundamentals.

·        Syllabus Focus: Projections (Orthographic/Isometric), Views, Lines, Geometric Figures, Symbolic Representation, and Drawing Instruments (Scales, Sheets, Mini-drafters).

2. Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

·        SSC JE (Junior Engineer): While Paper 1 focuses on General Engineering, Paper 2 (Descriptive) for Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical branches often requires drawing-related knowledge, particularly in structural detailing, machine parts, or circuit diagrams.

·        Syllabus Focus: Building drawing (Civil), Machine drawing (Mechanical), and Circuit representation (Electrical).

3. Architecture & Design Entrance Exams

If you are looking at creative or architectural fields, drawing is the primary evaluation tool.

·        NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture): Includes a dedicated "Drawing and Composition" section.

·        JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch): Features a specific drawing test evaluating 2D/3D visualization and sketching.

·        UCEED / CEED / NID DAT: These design exams focus on perspective drawing, shading, proportion, and creative visualization.

4. Public Sector & Technical Exams

·        ISRO (Draughtsman/Technician): Exams for Draughtsman "B" posts have a heavy emphasis on trade-specific engineering drawing.

·        DRDO (CEPTAM): Technician-A and Senior Technical Assistant (STA-B) roles include trade-specific drawing questions in the Tier 2 (Technical) paper.

·        State PSCs: Junior Engineer and Assistant Engineer exams for various state departments (PWD, WRD, etc.) often include Engineering Graphics in the initial screening or technical papers.

·        B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma: Almost every first-year engineering curriculum in India includes "Engineering Graphics" as a foundational credit course.

5. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) - Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)

The RRB ALP exam is famous for its "Basic Science and Engineering" section, which is essentially the WCS syllabus adapted for competitive selection.

·        Stage: CBT-2 (Part A).

·        Weightage: Significant. While Part A has 100 questions total, "Basic Science & Engineering" covers a large chunk (around 40 questions).

·        Syllabus Focus: Units, Measurements, Mass/Weight/Density, Work/Power/Energy, Speed/Velocity, Heat/Temperature, Basic Electricity, and Levers/Simple Machines.

6. Apprentice Exams (AITT for Apprentices)

Candidates undergoing apprenticeship in various PSUs (like BHEL, ONGC, or Indian Railways) take the 125th AITT (or current session).

·        Pattern: For Non-ITI/Fresher apprentices, WCS is a mandatory MCQ paper.

·        Exemption Note: ITI-passed candidates are now often exempted from the Theory/WCS portion of the apprenticeship exam, but it remains a core part of the training assessment.

7. Other Technical PSU Exams

Several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) use the WCS framework for their technician-level recruitments:

·        ISRO & DRDO: Technician 'B' and CEPTAM exams often include workshop-related math and science in their non-technical or core technical sections.

·        State-Level ITI Instructor Exams: State PSCs (like UPSSC or MPSC) often include WCS MCQs for the recruitment of vocational instructors.

It contains objective questions with underlined & bold correct answers MCQ covering all topics including all about the latest & Important about geometrical figures using drawing instruments, freehand drawing of machine components in correct proportions, procedure to prepare a drawing sheet as per BIS standard, learning about projection methods, auxiliary views and section views. Lettering, tolerance, metric construction, technical sketching and orthographic projection, isometric drawing, oblique and perspective projection, fasteners, welds, and locking devices, training on allied trades viz. Hand Tools,  Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Sheet Metal Worker, Welder, Foundry man, Electrician and Maintenance Motor Vehicles.

Workshop Calculation and Science include Unit, Fractions, Square Root, Ratio & Proportion, Ratio &Proportion, Material Science, Mass, Weight and Density, Speed and Velocity, Work, Power and Energy, Algebra, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Heat & Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Geometrical construction & theorem, Area of cut-out regular & irregular surfaces, Volume of cut-out solids, Material weight and cost, Forces definition, Thermal Conductivity, Average Velocity, Graph, Centre of gravity, Heat treatment, Concept of pressure and lots more.

We add new question answers with each new version. Please email us in case of any errors/omissions. This is arguably the largest and best e-Book for All engineering multiple choice questions and answers.

As a student you can use it for your exam prep. This e-Book is also useful for professors to refresh material.
